The issues Athletes face as they prepare to retire from sport can often be overwhelming. Presently there are a number of well know Athletes who have struggled to manage the transition from sport to retirement. Often is the case that psychologically, Athletes have not been prepared for the emotion that they face once sport is no longer part of their life. This has caused significant distress and personal harm to those athletes who have failed to make the transition.
The following video presentation was conducted by Sport Psychologist, Joel Curtis. He talks about the Psychological strategies Athletes, coaches and sport organisations need to undertake in order to better psychologically prepare Athletes for their transition into retirement.
